Abstract
Green manufacturing GM is the process of manufacturing that minimizes waste and pollution. It slows the depletion of natural resources as well as lowering the extensive amounts of trash that enter landfills. Its emphasis is on reducing parts, rationalizing materials, and reusing components, to help make products more efficient to build. A survey was undertaken to determine the extent of awareness and implementation ofGM practices within various manufacturing industries in the Vidharba region ofMaharashtra, India In this paper an approach is made to develop an instrument to find status of awareness and implementation of Green manufacturing in this region. We conclude that the adaptation of GM by industries is still at very early stage with much work to be done to raise levels of awareness and to convince them regarding the potential benefits of GM.
