Abstract

Both undergraduate and graduate courses are experiencing a migration away from the traditional classroom and toward a greater emphasisfor electronic delivery ofcontent. This trend cuts across alldepartments and schools in the university system but is especially critical in business schools, since the preparation of students for successful business careers will rely on the students' abilities to accurately assess the quality ofand rapidly adapt to the changing systems that reflect radical technological advances. In this study, the authors surveyed faculty and students from two business schools in Mumbai on their use of information and communication technologies. The perception ofthe technologies' effect on stakeholder satisfaction and productivity was analyzed. One ofthe business schools was using Moodle, the open source Learning Management System, in its course management and delivery. The findings indicated that though the expectations of the stakeholders were similar across business schools, the satisfaction, and hence productivity, was significantly higher in the business school where specialized software for teaching and learning were used. The findings could be useful to any management institution which is thinking of making effective use ofICT in its curriculum.
