Abstract

Increased Globalization and advances in technology coupled with market fluctuations and uncertainties, have seen a dramatic transformation of the Finance function from a phase where the emphasis was on creative accounting and scorekeeping to compliance, control and efficiency and from there on to decision support and finally towards catalyzing into a business partner. This paper discusses the changing role of the Finance function over the last few decades and how it is shaping into the future along with the changingrole of the CFO over the years.
