Abstract

In this paper, an attempt is made to employ analytic hierarchy process (AHP) method to select the optimal question set to be chosen by an examinee in a given examination system. Four criteria, i.e. answer possibility, necessary time, difficulty balance and appropriateness are identified to dominate this selection process. The proposed approach is applied for question papers containing grouping or without grouping of questions and it is observed that the distribution of questions into groups will not affect the solution accuracy. It is also noticed that the difficulty balance of the questions is the primary deciding criterion dominating the optimal question set selection problem.
