Abstract

Many working conditions that can affect comfort and health of the worker, including factors such as lighting, noise, temperature, vibration, workstation design, tooldesign, chair design and footwear & Job design. One of the basic requirementsfor a suitable work environment is that the space provided for workers be sufficient enough for them to perform the required tasks without strain. This strain causes stress to the labours and also leads to affect the productivity. Also, heforced to absentfrom himselffrom the safe working practices and thus causes accident. Minor changes such as the modifications in design of environment, work station on job works can make significant improvement. Ergonomics is the study of work in relation with the environment in which it is performed and those who perform it. In Sivakasi, there are nearly 700 fireworks manufacturing units are functioning. 90% of the demand in fireworks is met through Sivakasifireworks market. In this paper, fireworks manufacturing is taken as a case study and every processes carried out in the fireworks are analysed and working practices and their problems are evaluated. The strategies to control the problems are also recommended.
