Abstract

RCF, a major fertilizer and chemical manufacturer in the country, has come out with a scheme to utilise its industrial by-product gypsum for manufacture ofprefabricated wall panels based on the Australian Technology. These load bearing wallpanels, Rapidwall, replaces conventional bricks based walls. Rapidwall provides prefab construction with partial mechanisation like use of cranesfor lifting and placing in position oflarge load bearing panels for walls and roof. Rapidwall has many advantages including use of reprocessed industrial by- product waste gypsum as main raw material by hi- tech manufacturing process attaining zero waste in the cycle of manufacturing. Rapidwall consumes very low energy in manufacturing and does not cause CO2 emission, thereby contributing to sustainable development.
