Abstract

The driving is a multifunctional task with a high responsibility. The driver stays in constant contact with seat, steering wheel and pedals. Itis observed that the drivers spend about 10 hours per day on seat. Sitting motionlessfor the long period of time causes higher risk of musculoskeletal disorders. The driver's posture is one of the most important issue to be considered in vehicle design process. The sitting posture of the driver is determined by relationship between the body dimensions and dimension & location of various components at the workstation. The objective of this research is to evaluate comfort which covers the various aspects of driving posture and to assess comfort based on various factors.

Keywords- seat features, cabin dimension, component location, anthropometry and adjustability, speed range, factor analysis, regression analysis, analysis of variance.
