Abstract
In any industrial manufacturing process, even only in a particular area or a specialized function, thousands ofitems of knowledge constitute the total knowledge process, needed for failure-free operation. Some sort of prioritization based on basic fundamental concepts of knowledge risk, gap and strength may be evolved in order to have better manageability of the ocean ofvast knowledgeitems. A separate approach in terms of Knowledge Prioritization Number (KPN) may be thought ofwhich addresses both - the size of the problem and the priority. In this paper applicability of Knowledge Management (KM) process, in identifying right items of equipment-knowledge those have great significance towards manageability and in measuring and analyzing the core fundamental concepts of KM are discussed (John Gordon et al., 2003). KM being an important and serious issue of industry today, it is expected that this analysis and prioritization approach in terms of Knowledge Prioritization Number (KPN) will guide the enterprises to look for pinpointing those pieces of knowledge that demand early attention (out ofmass knowledge-items in any organization) and those are arising out of imperfections in equipment operational function.
Keywords- Knowledge Management, Knowledge Gap/Risk/Strength, Measurement, Knowledge Prioritization Number. Manageability, Equipment Reliability.
