Abstract
The objective of this paper is to investigate the similarities and dissimilarities in knowledge management (KM) practices among different selected sectors of Indian manufacturing organizations through formulation and testing of some hypotheses. A questionnairebased survey was conducted on four sectors namely Auto, Engineering, Process and FMCG (Fast Moving Consumer Goods). The findings of sectorial analysis show that selected sectors do not significantly differ on human competencies required for nurturing knowledge culture and types of knowledge critical for the organizations but differ on various knowledge sources required for developing a product. This paperfulfills the gap of identifying and testing the similarities and dissimilarities among selected sectors in their KMpractices. The investigation would be helpful for the working managers in developing KM strategiesfortheir organization.
