Abstract
FMEA is a technique used to enlist all possible failures and their resulting responses at all unfavorable levels. For army vehicles potential weaknesses are to be spotted to avoid fieldfailure risks which can be achievedthrough an orderly & systematic approach i.e. FMEA (a technique used to point out multiple failure modes and the relative frequency of occurrence under variable circumstances). This technique has enormous value to an army maintenance engineer in the prediction of reliability, availability & maintainability as it prioritizesfailure according to their serious consequences (severity),frequency ofoccurrence and their easy detection. This technique will also assist maintenance engineer in predicting fault isolation times in the maintainability prediction and prioritizing actions to reduce/eliminatefailure.Risk analysis ofvehicles transmission system is illustrated in this paper & associated failure data is collected from an army repair workshop.
