Abstract

This paper highlights the importance of subcontractors in project management system. Generally main contractor sublet number of activities to other subcontractors specialized in that work The present case study highlights the role and significance of various subcontractors in water supply project. Various project management tools like CATvs. RAT chart, Progress measurement chart, CPM etc are used in order to study the contribution ofsubcontractors in overall project progress. It has been observed that since about 75% of the total work is done by the contractors crashing ofthe activities such as excavation and refilling needs to be done, this will assist in reduction ofproject duration at optimum cost.
