Abstract

With the emergence of service industry (Educational Institutions) where requirements are more in terms of higher level of customer satisfaction, the inventory management system has to be designed in such a way that it should provide higher customer satisfaction. This may require better control on the quality ofsupply and time of supply. As some of the systems may not require substantial stores to be warehoused, the best ordering and procurement policies may be at variance with respect to traditionally inventory control system prevailing in production / manufacturing industry. Educational Institutions are primarily service institutes and therefore, their inventory system has to be viewed in light ofthese performance criteria.
