Abstract
Quality of work life (QWL) is the degree to which members of a work organization are able to satisfy important personnel needs through their experience in the organization. It is also defined as as work place strategies, processes and environment combination of which stimulates employees' job satisfaction. It depends on work conditions and organization's efficiency. Analysis of QWL in education has wide ranging implications as the service in this sector is dependant on performance of teachers. The performance not only depends on the service delivery but to a great extent on the intellectual levels and relevant traits of teachers therefore the QWL intensities in education is different from other service industries. The present study was conducted to assess the quality ofwork life of faculty teaching at UG andPG level institutes infive different colleges of Sinhgad Campus at Lonavala (India).A questionnaire survey was conducted in five colleges taking a total sample size of 146.The compensation, resources availability, training and development and the overalljob satisfaction aspects of QWL werefound affirmative while freedom at work and non monetary rewards were found to be deficient.These deficiencies drag down the social integration and work environment aspects.
