Abstract
Manufacturing organizations are currently encountering a necessity to respond to rapidly changing customer needs, desires, and fluctuating market demands. To compete in this dynamic environment, these organizations must seek out new methodologies allowing them to remain competitive and flexible simultaneously, enabling to respond rapidly to new demands. Process improvements become obligatory to gauge as well as improvise current manufacturing scenario and hence the advent of Kaizen automation plays a chief role. The case study concerned is that of an Air Conditioning Manufacturing industry having to deal withfluctuating market demand as well as competitive market stake holding. Partial automation of a major internal cooler-condenser feeder shop sub assembly provided a constant and continuous supply of coolers to the main assembly line, manufacturing central air conditioners. Prior to this development, fluctuations in feeder shop supply led to indefinite increase in production lead time offinal air conditioning unit and hence delayed market supply and ultimate loss ofmarketshare.
