Abstract
Researchers across the world suggest that employee engagement has a strong impact on an organization's productivity. Therefore, many companies are investing resources in ways that willfacilitate to increase engagement levels. Industrial engineers historically have been concerned and engaged themselves to conduct work study to improve productivity of human resource. In particular; many companies today are giving the importance of the industrial engineering studies in driving human resource engagement. Understanding human resource engagement and acting upon it can deliver substantial improvements in financial performance and productivity. This paper undertakes a comprehensive review of human resource engagement and shows that while engagement provides a solid foundation for financial success, employers should look beyond engagement if they are going to achieve superior financial performance. The ultimate goal should be human resource effectiveness, which builds on the engagement foundation by giving employees the training, resources, tools and equipment to work effectively and by creating a climate where the organization demonstrates its values, and creates a culture of trust and ethical behaviour.
