Abstract

Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) is a predictive methodology to aid us in creating designs that are '6s' regarding BOTH Customer requirements and Manufacturing Capability. An effort made for deploying these principles to prepare concise, yet effective documentation that will provide a distinct methodology for integrating lean manufacturing and six sigma philosophies in manufacturing facility layout design. Project addresses determinants in a layout design such as proximity, size, effectiveness and support. The work presents a conceptual framework for application of world-class manufacturing tools as the methodology of conducting, managing, and executing manufacturing lines transitions and set-ups.
