Abstract

The use of non-traditional machining has increased greatly due to the use ofmaterials difficult to machine, time consuming and sometimes impossible to machine components using conventional machines. Electric Discharge Machining (EDM) is the most widely used non- traditional machining process. Surface roughness (Ra) becomes very significant then. Varying the influential factors Ton, Vg, Ip we wish to know their individual and relative importance with respect to Ra. The graphs have been plotted and taking into account the 16 (2 for each) trials and 8 possible variations of the 3 parameters. Taguchi experimentation is the basefor the experiment in which the number ofexperiments is limited using orthogonal arrays. Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) table has been shown that gives the relative and individual importance ofthese parameters on the surface roughness.
