Abstract
The quantitative techniques are not only the powerful aids to decision making but also potent to reduce cost. These methods can be used to increase the productivity by applying to complex decision making. This paper reports a studycarried out in a medium size industries. The study is carried out in the electric motor assembly line of electric motor division. In this case study the main objectives were to fulfill the demand from existing rate of production 5000 motors/month with overtime, to 6000 motors/month, to optimize product mix, to practice bottleneck management, allocation of resources and identify the worth of resources. The existing problems in assembly shop are studied and identified. In this context, the use of quantitative techniques such as linear programming was thought to be very appropriate to tackle the existing problems. The analysis was carriedout byusing TORA Software. The resultpresented confirms the usefulness ofquantitative techniques in production Engineering.
