Abstract
In the recent past the manufacturing industry, in India, has been experiencing rapid changes in the form of customer expectations, sales demand, product mix, industrial relations, bottom line and many more. In such situations the variable component of the workmen's earning has to weigh appropriately to ensure theyare adequately motivated, the customer expectations are met and organisational performance indices well balanced. Through this paper, the details of a successful variable earning scheme for the workmen of an auto componentmanufacturing plant are being shared.
