Abstract

This paper discusses the use of statistical quality control which refers to the use of statistical methods in the monitoring and maintaining of the quality of products and services, as well as the use of Process Capability Studies in process monitoring. The Process Capability is a measurable property of a process to the specification, expressed as a process capability index (e.g.. C or C) or as a process performance index (e.g., Por P). The output of this measurement is usually illustrated by a histogram and calculations that predict how many parts will be produced out of specification (OOS). The use of Statistical Process Control in the grinding operation of a crank shaft and the results obtained is discussed here.
