Abstract
There has been an enormous increase in the global demand for energy in recent years as a result of industrial development and population growth. Fuel shortage is fast arising due to the excess usage. Hence the need arises for taping other sources of electricity generation. Currently, some of the important and widely used non-conventional sources of energy are tides, wind, solar geothermal heat, biomass comprising animal waste, agricultural waste and human body waste. All these non- conventional energy sources are unlimited or restorable and are essentially quite economical. We have tried to explore yet another source of electrical energy-footstep. Due to the transfer of one's weight on the road surface while walking, one loses energy to the road surface in the form of impact, vibration sound, etc., at each footstep, This energy can be tapped and converted in a usable form such as electrical energy. In order to develop a technique to harness foot-step energy, an electricity generating device has been developed by us. This device, if embedded in the foot-path, can convert foot impact energy into electrical energy.
