Abstract
Despite the extensive research carried out in the area of productivity throughout the world, practices for manufacturing productivity improvement have not yet been very well adopted in developing nations like India. This paper assesses the present status and scope of OEE metrics to improve the manufacturing productivity, through an extensive survey of Indian manufacturing organizations and presents statistical analysis of the survey responses indicating the usefulness of OEE metrics. The findings of this article would provide silent benefits gained by OEE implementation and how the overall system throughput could he enhanced. This paper also discusses the determinants that contribute in the success of OEE implementation. The paper recommends that the Indian manufacturing organizations must adopt OEE, as a tool for the continuous performance monitoring and improvement.
