Abstract

Industrial Engineering has created its place in Industrial Age with its unique approach to improve Productivity and Efficiency. It co-existed with other Engineering disciplines and provided approach and methods to improve their effectiveness. In this article I have linked the Knowledge Economy, its characteristics and changing nature of work force. Further I have recommended certain changes which I think is necessary to keep the basic fabric of Industrial Engineering intact. If not handled appropriately, it runs the risk of getting obsolete discipline. A paradigm shift will make Industrial Engineering a discipline of choice and enhance its value in the current age.
