Dinesh Singh

Abstract

The supplier selection plays a very important role in establishing an effective supply chain. The main aim of supply chain management is to integrate the suppliers to satisfy market demand. The selection of a wrong supplier could be enough to upset the company's financial and operational position. The supplier selection problem includes both qualitative and quantitative factors. This paper presents a compromise ranking method, VIKOR in order to select competitive suppliers in a supply chain. A seven point fuzzy conversion scale is used for converting the linguistic ratings into corresponding crisp values. The VIKOR method is illustrated by a group decision making example of a manufacturing firm for suitable material supplier selection.
