Abstract

JIT distribution ensures the delivery of specific quality of material in right quantity in the right place and at the right time. It can enhance the customer satisfaction, reliability of rapid response to demands and reduce inventory risk in the supply chain effectively. Poor transportation facilities, poor logistical planning, high logistics cost,demand variability, low information sharing quality, poor transportation logistics operations optimizationetc, are some of the challenges faced by many organizations. One of the most important tasks of top management is to identify and resolve the barriers for successfuladoption ofJIT distribution in industries. The objectives of this paper are to explore the barriers for successful JIT distribution systemand benchmark thebest practices to overcome them. Six barriers have been identified after reviewing literature. This paper offers a roadmap for taking suitable action to tackle barriers in the successful.JIT distribution.
