Abstract

Construction industry is one of the important industries as it has major contribution in the infrastructure developments as well as socio-economic development. As the complexities arise in construction sector, many construction projects are often delayed due to unexpected reasons and management practices. Competition in construction sector is increasing day by day due to availability of many stakeholders that may lead to affecting quality in construction. Civil Engineering professionals have to thoroughly analyse the project activities as the project schedule and cost is predetermined and some of the chronic and sporadic conditions may affect the completion of project in stipulated time and cost. Project cost escalation is considered as a one of the major threats to project success. Most of the decision making processes at the construction site during project execution and in planning stages needs to analysed using many possible scenarios that may be possible to arise during construction phases. This paper deals with the critical analysis of construction project cost and delay in construction projects in Mumbai region based on the data collected in the form of response of clients, contractors and consultant to the questionnaires prepared.
