At present large scale firms are focusing on business efforts to manufacture high quality products with the least possible cost. To achieve this objective, various quality improvement philosophies have been put forward in modern years and of these Six - Sigma has emerged as perhaps the most feasible and efficient approach for process quality improvement. Six - Sigma methodology aims to eliminate defects in the business process and maximize the quality, resulting in increased customer value. Six - Sigma is a business improvement policy adopted by companies all over the world which will reduce the process variation significantly and enhance effectiveness of the businesses. Since its beginning Six - Sigma has been largely restricted to the domain of only the big companies with good resources. But, this advance methodology is equally applicable to the SMEs also for improving their bottom line. But the application of Six - Sigma in Indian SMEs has not much impact due to the various limitations of SMEs.
