Abstract

This paper aim to review the available gap in classroom furniture improvement by considering the customers of 21st Century who need satisfaction to their requirements otherwise the manufacturer(s) or designer(s) can lose the market share. Before designers used to consider Quality Function Deployment (QFD) separately without integrating it with other techniques for customer satisfaction while ergonomic design used to be considered separately too. Currently, for any Classroom furniture to be designed, user’s requirements must be satisfied to the maximum expectation. Same to the ergonomics aspects that the user need to get satisfaction in term of comfort, safety whereby problem like fatigue, muscular stress, pain or discomfort in their different body parts can be avoided. In the literature survey it has clearly been shown that many authors designed Classroom furniture without integrating QFD and ergonomics principles (including anthropometric measurements). In today’s time, designing needs integration of various tools and techniques for enhancing customer satisfaction and profit to the manufacturer or designer. This comes to show that there is a big need of conducting a thoroughly and exhaustive research on the way to address some problems regarding Classroom furniture at the colleges or university by integrating QFD with Ergonomic Principles.
