Abstract
The global environment has made Indian manufacturing industries very competitive on cost, quality and delivery attributes. The published literature on Lean and Supply Chain over the past three decades establishes healthy relationship among these two methodologies. The strategic application of Lean principles coupled with supply chain characteristics helps the manufacturers to address their problem on global front. The LSCM principles and tools help in reducing the cost of the product and control the rate of inventory through waste minimization. It also aims to best utilization of resources at hand, quality product, smooth flow and delivering the right product to the right customer at the right destination. The paper emphasize on the factors which are common in both the methodologies known as extracted factors. These factors will help the manufacturing context to cater the need from the customer, satisfied the customer need from the efficient utilization of the resources at the supplier end and ensure the existence of the organization in the competitive market. The Pull Production system is the result of application of LSCM principle and an answer to all the queries of high quality product at low cost and at earliest delivery.
