IMPLEMENTATION OF SUSTAINABLE PRACTICES IN INDIAN OIL & GAS INDUSTRIES

Abstract

To reduce environmental risks or impacts and to gain positive brand image & competitive advantage, the sustainability in a supply chain concept is considered as an important philosophy of many organizations. The purpose of the study to identify & explore the key drivers of motivation & encouragement, for the successful implementation of sustainable practices in a supply chain of Indian oil & gas industries as a multi-criteria decision making problem. This study takes a comparative approach to problem analysis (i.e. multi-objectives with both quantitative and qualitative information), uses a scientific methodology in the development of new robust model for the successful implementation of sustainable practices in a supply chain of Indian oil & gas industries (i.e. comparative MCDM methods such as ISM; IRP; AHP, etc.), and provides practical use of the new best MCDM model in the industry. The drivers namely, global climatic pressure & domestic, local & international government's environmental regulations are expected to have high influential power or driving power and competitive advantage & positive brand image are expected have high dependence power. This study will help the sustainable managers of the organization and academicians to convert a supply chain into a truly sustainable entity.
