Abstract
Advanced optimization techniques plays very important role in optimization of industrial Problems. These techniques handle complex type of industrial problems with the help of computer and any computational tool. In order to validate the performance of these advanced techniques, it is essential apply it on bench mark Functions. In this Paper, recently developed optimization techniques known as particle swarm optimization (Kennedy & Eberhart (1995)) and shuffled frog leaping algorithm (Eusuff et al. (2006)) were applied on four bench mark functions which are already available in the literature namely, griewank function, step function, modified himmelblau function and sphere function. It is observed that the results obtained using these techniques after applying it on four benchmark functions, is closer to the ideal functions values bench mark functions.
