Abstract

Manufacturing industry has excessively consumed the resources and energy from the earth and seriously polluted the environment. To make progress, the sustainable development is to save resource and improve environment. While the concepts of remanufacturing and reverse logistics are gaining popularity in industrial world, the available literatures and theory in these areas are limited. The paper is designed to address the gap in particular for effort factors regarding establishment of remanufacturing industry. The paper examines the need for establishing linkages between factors affecting remanufacturing as well as organizational performance and suggests a comprehensive assessment framework. A diagnostic instrument has been designed to test in Indian industries that have implemented remanufacturing. The result of this empirical study has establishes the strong and weak linkages between effort factors and effective factors. This paper helps to derive a proposition for establishment of remanufacturing industries. Such a study has the potential to contribute in providing feedback to manage and improve the remanufacturing to better meet the needs of the organization.
