Abstract
Iron and Steel industry caters to the demands of various core sector industries like Automobiles, Railways, Defense, Agriculture, and Engineering Industry. Minimize waiting time of vehicle on Weighbridge is identified as potential area for internal transport improvement. Function of weighbridge is to weight different types of vehicle like tare weight, raw material weight, finish goods and internal scrap vehicles are arrive randomly to weight on weighbridge. In present condition waiting time of vehicle in queue is more on weighbridge arrive for service. The entire process of service at weighbridge is investigated from the point of view of elimination of non value adding activity as well as minimization of ineffective time. Various techniques such as queuing theory, simulation model to compare different possible alternative and select best among them. From this we compare utilization percentage of all three weighbridges and waiting time of vehicle on each weighbridge. This will result in utilization of all weighbridge should be equal so it reduce waiting time and queue length.
