Abstract

Rapidly increasing population and industrialization in India has made Indian Government and manufacturer to act on promoting 'Green Manufacturing practices' in order to reduce pollution and waste. The goal has to be achieved along with satisfaction of consumer and to stand in global market condition. This paper focuses on the concept, need, strategies and tools of Green Manufacturing with consideration of Indian Manufacturing sector. This paper also focuses on Indian Government initiative, action, and plans towards 'Green India'. The initiative of large scale Indian manufacturer in the realm of reducing environmental impact through the practices of Green Manufacturing is also highlighted through case studies.
