Abstract

This century is expected to be the hallmark for sustainable production system (SPS), which looks forward to realizing economically, socially and environmentally appropriate innovative production. This paper is an attempt to outline the concepts and learning about SPS capturing the varied perspectives of industrial case examples. An attempt is made in the paper to study the available literature about SPS and structure them into a synoptic framework of planning, design and implementation. The pursuit of sustainable development requires creation of SPS for seizing opportunities offered by triple-bottom-line orientation for firms to remain internationally superior and competitive. This paper provides a better understanding of current practices fulfilling SPS to identify opportunities for improvement based on current state of debate.avings
