Abstract
The industrial growth of India hits 5 years high at 9.8 % in Oct 2015. The country ranks fourteenth in the world in the factory output. The Ease of Doing Business rank of India is 130 (out of 189 economies) according to the report of World Bank. Indian industries have showed a consistent rate of growth in recent times. Industrial growth has led to better availability of products in the market and consumer is benefited in terms of quality options available at cheaper rate. The demand of quality product is increased leading to need of systematic quality assurance policy in every organization. An impending challenge is increasing pollution and a look at production system from the environment point of view is must. In this project, study of a plastic bottle manufacturing unit is done to evaluate its quality status. The company is faced with large number of rejections causing generation of large quantity of plastic waste and thus necessitating detailed quality control which is done using fraction defective control chart and assessment of process capability index. A comprehensive cause and effect analysis is also carried out to make necessary improvements in the overall quality of production system
