KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT PROCESS ENABLEMENT IN HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTIONS: A STUDY FOR FUTURE DIRECTION

Abstract

Purpose: The current study is addressing the critical review of Knowledge Management Process (KMP) literature in Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) context.Design: Critically review the study included systematic literature review (SLR). Instead of this study incorporates Emerald database time frame 2015 to 2021. Findings: To search a suitable article the keywords were used the ‘knowledge management process’, ‘Higher Education Institutions. Later of implementation the inclusion criteria we were found 24 appropriate research studies. The findings revels that the KMP is an emerging term in HEIs. However, KMP literature in the context of HEls still not sufficiently explained. The SLR found heterogeneity in KMP, nevertheless, the study later on categories into three major fields: KMP antecedents, KMP endorsement HEIs and lastly, KMP development. The result also found “VINE Journal of Information and Knowledge Management Systems” as dominating journal in the KMP search. Research limitations/implications: The study is limited to the specified database i.e Emerald and the timeline. However, the study found no other SLR study exists that showcase the relationship between KMP in HEIs. Originality/value: The study gives insights for future avenues and contribute in KM literature. Although, the increasing influence of KMP in literature, the research arena needs the more holistic study
